This one is plain and simple, and you know what? We like it that way. The rainbow trout is the state fish of West Virginia and we are very proud of it. We don’t know how it would fare in a contest with Idaho’s state fish, the cutthroat trout, but our fish is a lover, not a fighter. It also doesn’t have a cool name like Hawaii’s state fish, the Humuhumunukunukuapua’a,* but it is dang sure easier to spell.
